3 questions to ask yourself about your yoga practice

This year I decided to practice yoga every day at home. It was a personal challenge because I knew my mind would try to convince me otherwise. I knew it would take a lot of effort to follow a flow all by myself, but I assure you it's been worth it. Of course, I also go to yoga studios from time to time, where I can learn from an expert yogi and check if what I'm doing at home is safe or not.

Last weekend I went to a yoga workshop at Hot Yoga Dublin and it was a lovely experience. Our yoga teacher was Lisa, and Jane was helping out so everybody could reach their maximum potential during the practice according to their own needs and capacities. I strongly recommend this type of workshops for anybody interested in improving their alignment and connection with their own body.

To me, yoga is the best gift you can give to your body and inner-self. The exercises or asanas you perform during a yoga session are like metaphors. I always think of them as mirrors, reflecting my own states of my mind. That's why it's good to stay mindful during these practices. Focus on your breathing and be aware of any thoughts arising during that time.

3 questions to ask yourself about your yoga practice:

1- What did you think when trying to do a difficult pose? 

Did you feel ashamed, proud, frustrated? We need to explore all the feelings we have during our practice because they can tell us a lot about our self-stem, confidence or even tendencies to narcissism. So keep an eye on then and notice how these thoughts relate to your daily life.

2- What did you think when trying to do an easy pose? 

Did you feel superior or better than people that couldn't achieve that pose so easily? Or were you thinking about something else related to the past or the future? It's important to notice our type of thoughts because they can show us where are we putting our attention so we can decide if we really want to spend time and energy on those things. On the other hand, when you don't think about anything at all and you feel almost like a robot doing yoga poses, it's time to dig deeper: Are you enough motivated and happy in your daily life? Perhaps you haven't established a strong connection with your inner-self yet and that's the job you need to do at the moment.

3- Did you feel the practice was too long? 

Sometimes we think too much about the time when doing yoga. It has happened to me. It's like: When is this going to finish? It can happen during a yoga pose or the entire practice! This tells you a lot about your own impatience regarding your daily life.

Yoga is about self-love, confidence, courage and so much more! It also keeps your body happy and helps you accepting yourself the unique way you are. Yoga is a brilliant master and a kind friend. That's why I decided to do Yoga every day.

Rediscovering fashion, furniture, paint & cycling at The Rediscovery Centre!

Last weekend I went to The Rose Festival at St. Annes Park and DISCOVER a particular stall that got my attention. I decided to check it out and, instantly, I noticed the amazing job they're currently doing and trying to promote so hard.

They gave me 2 pencils, one made of money (yes money, but you can't spend it! like the lady from the stall told me hehe) and the other one made of paper! They had sustainable clothing and yoga mats made of reused materials. Isn't that awesome? I was so excited about it. This project is based on all the ideas I support, and they have a team already working on it. I got all the information I could, I went home and I read all about these marvellous people who are making this happen right now in Dublin, Ireland.

It's really amazing! You can visit their website and read more about them, but basically, they're leading change from waste to resource through Reuse, Redesign, Research and Education. So their main goals are:

- Prevent waste going to landfill.
- Provide employment and training (Rediscovering fashion, furniture, paint and cycling!)
- Inspire sustainable living.

They have educational workshops and activities available for children, teenagers and adults. I'd definitely give 5 stars to this people, and hopefully, I will join their next workshop very soon!

5 Simple Tips to Change Your Lifestyle Forever

It seems easy to change your lifestyle to a healthier and more conscious one. However, when you decide to begin, you start noticing how everything around you pushes you to keep buying food that is full of sugars and fat. Not only that, you notice how almost everything has been made to make you buy the wrong food, clothing, pharmacies and so on... It's so annoying! Even some eco-friendly brands are just a mask... They could contain terrible hidden ingredients that could harm the environment. Also, you need to consider your budget when deciding to change your lifestyle to a better one.

I believe you need to do it step by step. It doesn't have to be all at once. Here you'll find 5 tips to start adjusting your lifestyle and supporting sustainability.

1- Reduce the consumption of red meat. For example, start including vegan solutions to your meals once or twice a week if possible. In any case, if you're eating meat, make a pray and bless/thank the energy of that animal that is serving you as a meal.

2- Think twice about before buying anything. Read the ingredients if it's food, or the material if it's clothing.

3- Buy products from local businesses instead of big well-known brands. They already have a lot of money and they usually don't follow eco-friendly practices. So, choose organic and eco-friendly materials every time you can.

4- If you can't buy products from eco-friendly sources, take care of the products you buy so they don't become a waste for the environment too fast.

5- Donate or recycle your clothing if you're not gonna use it anymore. It's a lovely idea that everyone should put into practice. Somebody will be thankful if you decided to do so, and the environment will appreciate it too!

That's it. Those are the 5 tips you could follow if you want to start changing your lifestyle. Of course, there are hundreds of things you can do but we're just beginners fighting against big companies that don't care about the environment, the people or the animals in the world.
